The Chair Project – Holder Family

There are no tricks or fancy Photoshop work here, just a camera on a tripod, an old chair and some willing subjects. I love the flow and variety of faces that took time out to sit on ‘The Chair’ for this session, in fact, they are all very special to me because this lot is my Family and I love each and every one of them. They are a rowdy bunch of everyday Aussies that love and support each other simply because they are family. It is the blood that flows through our veins that binds us together and keeps us coming back year after year for our family get togethers at Christmas.

Organically over the last 70 years the family has grown from 8 siblings to over 100 and somehow we have managed to stay together; and mostly remember all the names. Family grounds you, in many ways it defines your position in the grand scheme of things. We know we belong to something bigger than ourselves, a living breathing mixed up bunch of individuals that somehow make a whole.

My only disappointment is that a few faces are missing from this collection but know that we are thinking of you just the same.

Travel – New Zealand

I had the opportunity recently to visit the South Island of New Zealand; Wow, what an awesome place. My first thoughts were of what a beautiful country it was, my second, why it took me so long to get there!
New Zealand is overloaded in natural beauty, a photographers paradise. Theses are a few of my favourite shots.

Chloe & Chad’s Big Day

The weeks leading up to the 26th November 2011 were wet and cold and the morning of the 26th was no different so my bride Chloe had resigned herself for a wet wedding day and I had packed my wet weather gear and the umbrellas. She took it with good grace and focused with excitement on the day ahead but thankfully, at 1:30pm, against all odds the sun came out! It turned out to be a great afternoon and the bride looked simply gorgeous, oh, and the groom scrubbed up alright too!

Baby Bump pics one week turn into newborn pics the next. Here is the beautiful little Odessa just 7 days old. (I must be getting clucky in my old age because I just loved playing with her. Don’t babies just smell devine!)

Olivia – Abandoned Dreams shoot

I love this shoot with the beautiful Olivia, loosely themed around the concept of Abandoned Dreams. We had lot of fun climbing the fence and sneaking in to shoot in this abandoned mansion where we were ceremoniously outed a short while later, thankfully, after we had got the shots!

I somehow missed putting it up on the blog earlier but as they say, better late than never….

Mother and Daughter Fun

I had a cancelled shoot over the weekend so Leisha and I had some fun together using the studio to outwork a few ideas we had been talking about for some time. It was a real joint effort. I even got to give my beautiful green chair another run.
I have no qualms in saying that she is my favourite model! Love you Leish.

Bloomin Lot Nursery Shoot

First landscapes, now flowers! I certainly can’t complain that this week hasn’t had enough variety!
I had a wonderful afternoon outside in the sunshine photographing the beautiful boutique nursery ‘Bloomin Lot’ in North Turramurra. I highly recommend this wonderful nursery whose owner has a green thumb and a great selection of beautiful plants.

You can find the nursery at 311 Bobbin Head Rd, North Turramurra Open daily 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Charity Ride – Sydney to the Hunter 2011

I had the privilege again this year of photographing ONE80TC’s Sydney to the Hunter Cycling Classic. The riders in this 3 day event are cycling to raise much needed funds for ONE80TC and increase community awareness. They are all champions!
Did I mention that I had a great day hanging out the window of a speeding car shooting the action? So much fun!

Well, as a portrait photographer I found the job of taking some landscape shots for a client rather a challenging one. For 6 years now I have been honing my portraiture skills rarely thinking of what is required to make a good landscape photograph. Flattering poses and expressions for people yes but how to make a bushy scene interesting, no. Here are a few shots from the final selection.
